Born and raised in the Netherlands, he started his own "Drive in DJ" show at the age of 13 in the City of Boxmeer, Brabant. Here he played the Dutch Top 40 until he visited his uncle in LA for a Summer. At that point, Marcus was impressed by the House sounds and Rap beats of Los Angeles. Soon he found himself buying records and scratching them like no other. At the age of 15, he moved to Wisconsin where he played American Football for the high school and university. For great house parties he would pick up the head phones and play American Party Music and tried to let people experience the sounds of Europe. But the Midwest was not ready yet, so he concentrated on his double major in International Relations, German, and a minor in Business and French. This was however not a challenge and wanted more from an education and decided to go to England for a Master of Science in International Business. Here he was confronted with the heavy club scene and hardcore industrial beats and saw how people can enjoy dancing from dusk until dawn. He wrote his thesis on Export Marketing to Germany in a global environment and frequented Berlin, Frankfurt, and Bonn where he also experienced German Club scenes. He did receive his diploma ƒº The challenge however was not big enough and he joined the Royal Naval Academy of the Netherlands where he was trained and educated as a Naval Officer. Being stationed as a minesweeping lieutenant there was little time to practice dj¡¦ing but he did travel extensively through Israel, Jordan, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Canada, Czech Republic, Yugoslavia, etc ) and learned different beats from different countries for a variety of party people. After special operations he was working for the Ministry of Defense and with the spare time he start picking up music here and there and after the tour of duty ended, IBM gladly hired him at Global Services. Here had the opportunity to fool around with integrating music and software into the perfect dj solution. He used several tools to get the perfect beats from the right countries and he saved the beats just for himself in his Alfa Romeo GTV roaming Europe from Paris to Milano.
After IBM, he arrived in California to become the best man for his brother who fell in love with a Californian girl. Marcus who was burned out at working long days at IBM reconciled his energy in California where he picked up his passion for music at a Persian Night Club where he dropped some Middle Eastern beats mixed with American mainstream and European Club songs. It was a success and now for 10 years straight he is DJ'ing all over the Bay Area where he mixes club beats with International Music. DJ Marc van Brabant
